Best Street Sports Events from 2023

2023 was a year jam-packed with awesome moments in street sports at some of the biggest events from the year. It has been hard to whittle it down to only three events of the whole year, but these celebrate street sports on another level. 

Copenhagen Open

 

 

What is Cophenhagen Open?
Also known as CPH open. It's the largest skateboarding festival in the world. The founder of the festival explains it saying “ CPH Open is a movement. It's an organic adventure set into motion by the people who turn up with love and good energy. CPH Open is proof that together we can create the best of times and forge long-lasting relationships through skateboarding.” 

It first started in 2007 and since then has grown to be a huge festival. CPH Open moves around to multiple locations each day throughout multiple days in multiple cities, hitting up spots as diverse as Copenhagen City Hall, Tivoli Gardens, and historic Berlin bridges as well as taking over entire city blocks. The event attracts crowds in the thousands at each stop and people travel from all over the world to attend.

How do you find CPH Open?
The one thing about CPH Open is that they don't advertise it, it is very much word of mouth. A lot of people say you have to be IN the IN to know, many people fly out the second video and clips are being shared on social media, you will know when it's happening I suggest following the official CPH Open Instagram page.

What Happened This Year?
It started this year with the 1UP session in the streets and the premiere of the newest Nike SB video. The second day was at Fælledparken all day long with some big bowl skating and Vitoria Mendonca turning pro. The third day started with the LGBTQ session in the skatepark. Later on the session at Amager Strandpark. On the Final day, There were loads of side missions, and skaters skated in different spots all over the city.

 

Skate Love Barcelona

 

 

What is Skate Love Barcelona?
Skate Love Barcelona is a unique international skate music festival, dedicated to a community that shares the passion for music, dancing, and roller skating in a social and multicultural environment. Skaters from all over the world fly in for the event.

How do I find Skate Love Barcelona?
The Main location of Skate Love is Mar Bella Area in Barcelona Spain. An iconic, crowded environment, located on the seacoast, with good visibility, optimal connections, and accessibility. Tickets usually go live in late December or early January, and book out fast.

What Happened This Year?
Skate Love always has a bunch of different events happening from Masterclasses taught by world-class instructors to Getting inspired by the creativity and artistry at the performer showcases. There was also the Best Dressed Award by Rubisnacks and for the park/transition skater, there was the Love Bowl Contest, which was the second edition of the competition. This year 37 skaters from all over the world came to Barcelona to compete.

 

CORE Open 

 

 

What is the CORE Open?
CORE Open is known as one of the biggest scooter comps in Europe, some of the best riders in the world travel down for the event. Even though it is a one-day event, it does so well because there's something for everyone to compete in. Also, it's an event that celebrates the scooter community, bringing together riders of all ages and skill levels to share their love for the sport.

Where is CORE Open?
CORE Open is always located at Junction4 Skatepark located in Darwen, Blackburn, UK.  CORE has already announced that CORE Open 2024 will be also at Junction 4 Skatepark on the 25th of May.

What happened this year?
There was a contest for everyone to name a few Junior Comp (15 years & under), Seniors Comp (16 years & older / non-pro riders), Street Comp, Street Best Trick, Pro Comp (pro riders only), and Park Best Trick. Not only that but the prize fund this year was a whopping £7000.
