Conversation With Jamie Hull
Today we are having a conversation with Jamie Hull. He is the new World champion and is the UK Champion in Scooter riding.
Hi Jamie, what Title have you just won and what does this mean?
“I have just got back from Argentina where I won the World Skate World Championship, this has always been my dream since the day I started riding to hopefully one day become a World champion and now it has come true. It just goes to show if you believe in yourself and keep pushing yourself forward you can achieve your dreams. It has taken 10 years of competing but it has been worth the journey.”
What does this mean to you?
“Being World Champion means the World to me, ever since I watched the 1st Deeside World Championships when I was 10 years old. I am so happy and proud to represent my country in Argentina and take home the Gold Medal. It means everything and has made me want to ride and progress even more now than I did before. I love my sport.”
Can you tell us about yourself and how you got into Scootering?
“I started riding when I was 9 years old and I just loved it. I loved trying to learn new tricks and although Scooters weren’t allowed in hardly any indoor Skateparks, as soon as we could get to a park that would let them in, I really pushed myself to learn as much as I could in the little time we had. When Deeside Skatepark opened I was just 10 years old and it made all the difference, although it didn’t have any foam pits or resi ramps, just being able to ride in an indoor park was amazing. I really progressed my tricks but not only that, I created some amazing friends. Without them and that park, I probably wouldn’t be riding today, as it was a long time before Deeside opened their other parks to Scooter riders. At the first ISA World Championship I entered the International Open Age amateur competition and managed to get 4th place.”
“I was then approached by several companies to sponsor me but I decided to take the offer from MGP (Madd Gear Action Sports) and I became the youngest Scooter Professional rider at 10 years old. I rode for MGP for 5 years then moved to District Scooters. I was with them for 2 years before moving to Apex when I was 17 and I still ride for them now. I have achieved many of my Goals on the way to becoming a World Champion including
UK Champion and European Champion.”
Who do you look up to?
“I look up to many riders but especially Dakota Schuetz, he was one of the first riders I started to watch on YouTube. When I saw him at the 1st ISA competition I thought WOW, he was awesome and so happy to be able to say that he is one of my close friends now and I have learnt so much from him, he has been a true inspiration and mentor.”
How long have you been Scootering?
“Coming up to 11 years.”

Jamie went on to list his biggest Achievements, in competition:

Overview of champs - what it is and why it is so important?
“The Championships are important because it's something for riders to strive to win. It gives riders a goal and it shows who is the best. It pushes riders to learn the best tricks they can but also keep themselves fit as competition is hard work and being an athlete means gym work. It inspires new riders to take up the sport as this year the World Skate Finals was streamed live on the Olympic TV channel.”
Your highlights of champs?
“The highlight was obviously winning and being on the podium in the top spot and having the National Anthem played with the Union Jack on the Big Screens.”
What other riders attended the championships?
“Bart Oskroba came in 2nd Place and Chris Farris in 3rd Place”
What are you currently working on and what does the future hold for you?
“At the moment I am training for the UK Championships which will be held in December at Adrenaline Alley. After that it will be the start of 2023 and I want to progress my riding and hopefully keep winning. There are so many World first tricks I want to land so hopefully there will be more Worlds First in 2023.”
How long have you been with SkateHut?
“I have been with Skatehut for about 2 years now.”
What is your relationship with SkateHut and where do you see your future with us?
“Skatehut and I, I am a team rider and hopefully going forward we can promote Skatehut more and also Scootering. To attend Skatehut events and meet some of the customers and inspire them to buy products and also inspire the next generation of World Champions.”
