Milton Keynes Ride Day x Streetwise
Who is Streetwise?
Streetwise are a homegrown collective of 3 main riders, Harry Brigden, Karson Crane and Josh Shaw. With a larger group of friends, they began filming videos at their local skate park Ise Lodge.
Since growing over the years their core group is now 8 guys, Harry Brigden, Karson Crane, Josh Shaw, Ollie Myers, Taylor Barden, Lewis Oram, Jamie Weir and Brandon Joseph.
As time went on Harry took his talents to the larger community filming videos of street jams and events, making himself a staple of the community filming some of the best Jam videos. Their most popular videos include London Street Jam 2022 and Happy Together.
Many of the members primarily focus on street riding, but this year they want to challenge themselves further. They aim to broaden their horizons by actively participating in more jams and even considering entering competitions. The aspiration is to not only refine their skills on the streets but also to test their abilities in a competitive and collaborative setting.
Milton Keynes Ride Day
Even though the event had a jam-like setup, it was a ride day with no sponsors involved. The streetwise community gathered from various parts of the UK to spend a day together, united by their passion for scooter riding. Since members come from all over the UK, they often go months without seeing each other, making this day special for them to reconnect and film content.
This day was extra special as we had a huge announcement to make: Streetwise is now sponsored by SkateHut. We got the group together and made the announcement with around 30 members present.
As well as the sponsor announcement SkateHut brought down a scooter board which was a hybrid between a scooter and a skateboard. Essentially, it's a scooter with skateboard trucks on the bottom. The challenge is that despite having handlebars, they are merely for display, and you can only execute scooter tricks on it, forcing you to ride it like a skateboard.…suffice it to say, it had a mixed reception!
The gathering began at Milton Keynes Buszy, with everyone later moving to different street spots within Milton Keynes. Surprisingly, the day concluded back at the Buszy again.
What is the Buszy?
The Buszy Plaza is an all-concrete and marble plaza-style area that was created out of an old bus station in 2003. It can be found opposite Milton Keynes Central Station.
In the centre of the area is a large, square manny pad and placed around this is a series of marble blocks of various shapes and sizes arranged in a way that is perfect for long grind lines. Buszy Plaza is a must for all street skaters/riders, the surfaces are smooth and there is a large selection of marble obstacles as well. There is a lot of long flowing line potential here and the stair set is a particularly big attraction, better still the whole area is undercover making it a rainy day spot too, although it is bound to be busy.
