The 900 Gig at SkateHut HQ

The 900, made their debut performance at SkateHut HQ on the 3rd of February 2024. This event featured not only the live performance by The 900 but also included a supporting band from Halesowen College, known as ShutUsUp!¡.

Sponsors played a crucial role in making the event a success. Shiner, a notable contributor, provided Tony Hawk skateboards, helmets, and pads as raffle prizes. Additionally, Red Bull, another valued sponsor, ensured our energy levels remained high throughout the entire show by generously supplying refreshing energy drinks.

The event took place at SkateHut HQ in Halesowen, it was the first time SkateHut has held an event at the new shop and it was a huge success. Despite the shop remaining open for regular business throughout the day, customers had the opportunity to both shop and revel in the live music experience. SkateHut thoughtfully allocated half of the shop's space, creating an area for people to dance and enjoy the captivating live performances.

The gig took place on the 3rd of February, commencing at 12 midday and concluding at 2 pm. The first band ShutUsUp!¡ performed from 12:15 to 12:45, with a raffle break scheduled between sets. The headlining act, The 900, took the stage from 1 pm to 2 pm. Alongside the raffle, attendees also had the chance to participate in the 'Spin 2 Win' game, ensuring a guaranteed prize with each spin. The game offered excitement at just £1 per spin, and all proceeds were dedicated to supporting Birmingham Children's Hospital.

The collaboration with Halesowen College and the performance by ShutUsUp!¡ added a wonderful touch to the event, fostering a sense of community among locals. Working with Halesowen College was a delightful experience, and having ShutUsUp!¡ on stage not only showcased local talent but also energized the crowd, setting the perfect atmosphere for the much-anticipated performance by the 900.

There were certainly several memorable moments during The 900's performance, including the emergence of a lively mosh pit and instances of crowd surfing. The lead singer, Jón Ásbjörnsson, demonstrated exceptional skill in energizing the audience and actively involving them in the performance. His ability to connect with the crowd added an extra layer of excitement, contributing to the overall dynamic and immersive experience of the event.

Overall, the event was a resounding success, weaving together elements of local talent, community spirit, and an electrifying atmosphere. The combination of outstanding performances by both ShutUsUp!¡ and the 900, coupled with engaging activities like the raffle and 'Spin 2 Win' game, created a memorable and enjoyable experience for all attendees.
