Summer 2018 is turning out to be a real scorcher, and it’s about to get a whole lot better! We’ve rounded up our favourite sport events and festivals for you that are taking place this summer so head on down to them and get stuck in!
NASS Festival, Bristol – 5 th -8 th July
The UK’s favourite extreme sports and street art festival returns for its 7 th year! NASS festival is based in Shepton Mallet just outside of Bristol and showcases skateboard and BMX competitions, as well as street art exhibitions over the course of the weekend. Dizzee Rascal, Run DMC and Damian Marley will also be headlining the stage this year, so it’s sure to be one to remember!
Eastbourne Extreme, Eastbourne – 14 th July
Being the only outdoor Roller Derby event in the UK, Eastbourne Extreme takes places on the scenic promenade of Eastbourne Beach, meaning it’s a great place for a family trip, as well as making for some fun competing! Being located right next to an Adventure Park as well, there’s something for all the family here so it’s well worth making a weekend of!
Southbank Summer Jam, London – 14 th July
Southbank’s Summer Jam is hosted this year by Brixton’s Baddest Skateshop and Long Live Southbank. Get down to the skate landmark to catch skate schools, best trick comps, giveaways, music and of course, some first-rate skating. This event is also a fundraiser to help the Long Live Southbank Restoration project!
The Revenge of Space Dinosaurs on Skates!, Loughborough – 22 nd July
Hosted by the Leicestershire Dolly Rockit Rollers, this year’s Space Dinosaurs Roller Derby event takes place in Loughborough Leisure Centre. Two games will be taking place, with the first open to rookie/intermediate levels, and the second open to all levels. Head down to see some roaring action!
ScootGB Midlands Round, Leicester – 5 th August
ScootGB’s qualifying Midlands round this year takes place at Terminal 1 Skatepark this year, just outside of Leicester. Riders will compete here for a place in the UK final which is scheduled for the end of the year. Hit up Terminal 1 to see some of the best riders in action or to even compete yourself!
Boardmasters, Newquay – 8 th -12 th August
Held in Newquay in Cornwall, Boardmasters is the surf equivalent to NASS Festival. Acting as part of the World Surf League qualifying series, some of the best surfers from around the world visit Boardmasters every year to compete in the competition, which is held on Newquay’s Fistral Beach. This year’s line up in includes the likes of Catfish and the Bottlemen, Annie Mac and George Ezra!
Godiva Festival, Coventry – 31 st Aug – 2 nd Sep
Hailed as the UK’s biggest free family music festival, Coventry’s Godiva Festival celebrates its 20 th anniversary this year. This year sees legends such as Jake Bugg and Ronan Keating headlining, with many others to be confirmed. With a fun fair and craft village, as well as international food and drink stalls, Godiva has something for everyone!
Unit3Sixty Skate Comp, Stourbridge – 8 th September
A bowl jam, a pro/sponsored street comp and live bands, Unit3Sixty know how to throw a skate competition. Get down here to compete and win yourself some prizes, or come down to spectate and witness some top shredders!
