Scoot GB Grand Finals

Last weekend, over the 10th and 11th of December, the Scoot GB Grand Final concluded. The final event took place at Adrenaline Alley in Corby,  where a load of riders came down from all over the UK, including Scooter Riders such as Jamie Hull, James Gellatly, Jordan Clark, Jayden Sharman and many more.

Scoot GB held six Qualifier Rounds that were at different Skateparks around the UK. The first Qualifiers was ScootGB Welsh Qualifier at Deeside Aura Skatepark, Second Qualifiers was ScootGB Southern Qualifier at XC Skatepark, Third Qualifiers was ScootGB Northern Ireland Qualifier at The Ramp House, Fourth Qualifiers was ScootGB Scottish Qualifier at The Unit23, Fifth Qualifiers was ScootGB Northern Qualifier at Junction4 and the Sixth and final qualifiers was ScootGB Midland Qualifier at Asylum Skatepark.


This year the sponsors of the Competition were Dogg Scooters, The Real District, Chilli Scooters, Grit Scooters, Dominator Action Sports and Crisps Scooters.

 

 

The competition had 9 categories, Novice 8 & under, Novice 12 & under, Novice 13+, Intermediate 8 & under, Intermediate 12 & under, Intermediate 13+, Ladies, Jr Pro/Elite and finally Pro/Elite. 

 

We spoke to James Gellatly about the highlights of the event for him.


What were your favourite Highlights of the competition?

The competition overall was amazing, great turnout and loved seeing the community.


What was your favourite trick you landed ? mine was your quint whip rewind variation.

My favourite trick was the quilt rewind for sure!


Have you got any advice for beginners at these sorts of competitions?

The best advice for beginners is to keep flow and not stopping.

What setup are you riding at the moment?

I’m riding Jayden Sharman sig deck and wheels.


What’s the difference between resi ramps and normal ramps?

The difference between resi and normal is that it’s padded, therefore making it easier to try new tricks!


How did you tackle your nerves?

By going over my run in my head helps with nerves. Practising mentally makes it 10x easier in the competition.
