Today, we’re going to talk about the top skateboarders in the UK to look out for in 2024. We'll be discussing their journeys and achievements in skateboarding from names such as Rianne Evans, Alex DeCunha, Stefani Nuring, Jamie Griffin and Lola Tambling.
Rianne Evans
Rianne Evans is a pro skateboarder With a string of high-profile skate sponsors already under her belt Polar Skate Co, Nike SB, Spitfire Wheels, Independent Trucks, Get Lesta and Route One.
Born in Bournemouth but now living in Bristol, she started skating at the age of 14 at her local skatepark Kings, Bournemouth, She says in an interview with vague “ I doubt I would have ever picked up a board. It’s transition-based with a fat snake run, which meant all I wanted to do was learn to carve and go fast.”
Rianne is a huge advocate in the girl skateboarding scene one of the main reasons she moved to Nike SB was because They’ve been closing the gender gap by supporting and advertising more female skateboarders and Nike has now got a fully female team worldwide. She says “ I think it’s important to us girls to be represented in the mainstream industry for obvious reasons it encourages and inspires other women, both those who already skate and those who want to learn.”
Rianne was also part of Get Lesta Darling video and was featured on the cover of Vague Mag issue 20.
Alex DeCunha
Alex DeCunha was Born and raised in Milton Keynes, from an early age Alex immersed himself in the world of skateboarding, dedicating himself to honing his abilities. He said in an interview with World Skateboarding “The shopping centre at Milton Keynes has a big open space where they do random events, like seasonal things here and once they had a mini-ramp set up. There was an Eastpak demo and there was this skater called Lee Blackwell doing all his Lee Blackwell-related activities, like where he flew out of the ramp over the back fence to flat. It’s marble floor there, so the noise he made when he landed echoed throughout the building and 6-year-old me was just, like, ‘Wow’.”
Since then his accomplishments include multiple national championships and podium finishes in international events, firmly establishing him as one of the foremost skateboarders in the United Kingdom. Alex is also a member of Skateboarding GB and competed in Rome and Brazil qualifier events and on his path to competing in the Olympic Games in Paris 2024.

Stefani Nurding
Originally from Plymouth now living in Brixton in south London, Stefani juggles motherhood with running her own skate business, working as a model and getting out to skate herself, filming content and collaborations. She picked up skating from surfing naturally.
In 2016 Stefani made history by becoming the first British woman to compete at skateboarding in the US Open, but could only watch the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics when skateboarding was included for the first time as she’d just given birth to her son the year before. An emergency C-section led to a longer than expected recovery time – around two years to get back to the level that she was – and then she broke her ankle. This, she believes, means it’s now unlikely that she’ll qualify to make it to the Paris Olympics with Team GB in 2024.
Not only is Stefani a skateboarder she also owns a UK skate company Salon. Salon Skateboards is one of the few UK female-owned skate companies that sells skateboards and apparel, a fan favorite was a T-shirt emblazoned ‘dump him go skateboarding’ which sold out the fastest. The brand has sponsored a few skaters including Yasmin Stetter, Cibely Cavalcante and many others.
Jamie Griffin
Jamie Griffin is a skateboarder born in Ireland and now resides in London.
As well as being a pro skater he has won Battle at the Berrics 12 and broke to skate world records. His sponsors include fritz-kola, boohooMAN, SkatePro, *S.A.D. ™ and Three Sixty London.
After rising to fame and becoming an up-and-coming name in the field, Ireland-born champion Jamie bagged two records during the ultimate skateboarding battle.
After entering the Influencer bracket at the skateboarding event BATB 12 (Battle at the Berrics 12) and smashing every challenge, in 2022 he became ‘the skateboarder to keep an eye on’.
Jamie took on 64 competitors during the event, including some seasoned professionals, even besting former BATB winner Chris Cole in the semi-finals. At Hop Kingdom, in June 2022, he further proved his mastery, achieving two world records.
Jamie broke the record for the most skateboard heelflips in one minute: in only 60 seconds, he achieved 28 heelflips. The trick consists of flipping the board with the heel, and rotating the board in the opposite direction of a kickflip. The result achieved by Jamie largely surpassed the previous record of 15, set by skater Rob Dyrdek (USA).
The other record was the most varial heelflips in one minute, What is a "varial heelflip", you might ask? This stylish, impactful trick sees the spinning of the board along its vertical axis. It's a blend of a frontside pop shove-it (combining an ollie jump with a frontside 180-degree rotation) and a heelflip, flipping a skateboard with the heel. Jamie, with his best attempt, got his hands on the certificate with a whopping 23 varial heelflips in one minute!
Lola Tambling
Lola Tambling a skateboarding pro from Saltash Cornwall, has recently made it to the finals of the Skateboard World Championships, a remarkable achievement. Lola, who began skating at the tender age of seven, left a lasting impression on the judges, securing a commendable sixth place among fierce competitors from the United States, Japan, and her fellow GB teammate, Sky Brown. She says in an interview with the companion “ Before my first run in the semis, I was shaking and I think I bailed, but the second run I pulled, then I found out I made it to the finals and I started bawling my eyes out. I was over the moon; I didn’t even know what to think. But I was crying with happiness.” Lola's journey in skateboarding began when her parents organised a skate jam at the Saltash Junkyard skatepark, which is sadly not around anymore.
